For this species, death is not the end of life but a return to its beginning. After sinking to the seafloor and beginning to decompose, its cells can reorganize into a new polyp, from which new jellyfish eventually bud, forming a continuous cycle of renewal. As I attempted to simulate their movement through mathematical equations, I found that every precisely tuned parameter and every subtle interaction between individual motions pointed beyond rational calculation, evoking a sense of wonder at the contingency through which life emerges. The sound in this work is generated directly from the jellyfish's tentacles and movement. The coordinates of every tentacle tip are translated into sine waves, unexpectedly producing sparse, ethereal sonic textures reminiscent of the solitude of the deep sea.

https://akaswap.com/akaobj/6612 燈塔水母(Turritopsis nutricula)屬水螅剛,俗稱永生水母(Immortal jellyfish)。燈塔水母的死亡不是生命的結束,而是重新回到其生命的起點,當他們死亡下沉到海底開始腐爛後,細胞會重新聚集形成新的水螅體,並且再從水螅體中分裂出新的水母,以此循環形成永恆的生命。當我試圖利用數學公式模擬他們的姿態時,一切剛剛好的參數與各個細部動作的牽引都接連著理性之外對於生命形成之偶然的讚嘆。而這件作品中的聲音來自水母的處手及動態,我將其所有觸手末端的座標轉換成正弦波,恰巧生成出猶如深海中寂寥、空靈的聲響。
