Sun Dairy
Sun Dairy
Sound installation
Year : 2025
Materials : solar magnetic field data, tape, subwoofer, raspberrypi
Venues : Waley Art (TW)

Sun Dairy uses publicly available solar wind magnetic field data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The data are linearly interpolated and compressed into frequencies audible to the human ear, then recorded onto cassette tapes, transforming the Sun’s magnetic forces into patterns of magnetic powder on tape. Played back through a subwoofer, the low-frequency noise allows the audience to perceive the Sun’s time and energy through sound. During the exhibition, the number of tapes gradually increases, like a diary of the Sun.
